한국영상자료원 '제목전'(On Title) 2026

한국영화 100여 년의 역사를 ‘제목’이라는 가장 작은 단위로 해체하고, 이를 다시 이미지와 움직임으로 확장해 보여주는 전시다. 1919년부터 2025년까지 약 8,400여 편의 한국영화 제목을 분석하는 한편, 애니메이션과 영상, 그래픽 디자인을 통해 제목이 하나의 시각적 경험으로 재탄생하는 과정을 선보인다.

<워커힐에서 만납시다> 한형모 감독/1966

1966년은 전후 한국 사회가 산업화의 물결 속에서 도시 소비문화로 진입하던 격변의 시기였다. 소달구지와 자동차가 공존하던 서울의 거리 풍경은 과거와 미래가 교차하는 상징적인 시기였다. 이러한 시대적 맥락을 바탕으로 영화 <워커힐에서 만납시다>의 정서를 애니메이션으로 해석하였다. 당시 변두리였던 워커힐의 화려한 스포트라이트와 빅밴드 공연을 영화의 소재로 사용한 것은 우리 사회가 처음으로 ‘소비’와 ‘오락’을 욕망으로 긍정하기 시작했음을 보여주는 기록이다. 전후의 상흔과 근대적 활기가 뒤섞인 1960년대 한국의 미학을 시각적으로 재구성하여, 대중문화의 태동기에 담긴 생경한 에너지를 즐겁게 담아내고자 했다.

Korean Film Archive 'On Title' Moving Image Exhibition An exhibition that deconstructs over 100 years of Korean cinema history through its smallest unit — the title — and expands it into image and movement. The exhibition analyzes the titles of approximately 8,400 Korean films from 1919 to 2025, and presents the process through which titles are reborn as visual experiences via animation, video, and graphic design.

1966 was a turbulent period in post-war Korean society, as the country entered an era of urban consumer culture amid the waves of industrialization. The streets of Seoul, where ox carts and automobiles coexisted, represented a symbolic moment where past and future intersected. Against this historical backdrop, the emotional world of the film See You at Walker Hill has been reinterpreted through animation. The film's use of the glamorous spotlight and big band performances at Walker Hill — then on the outskirts of the city — stands as a record of the moment Korean society first began to openly embrace 'consumption' and 'entertainment' as desires. This work visually reconstructs the aesthetics of 1960s Korea, where the scars of war and the vitality of modernity were intertwined, seeking to joyfully capture the unfamiliar energy embedded in the dawn of popular culture.
